New MCLAREN W1! First Look at the P1 Successor

This is the brand new MCLAREN W1! Join me in Woking for a first look at McLaren's awaited successor to the P1, now completely a trilogy of 1 cars. Limited to 399 cars, featuring a hybrid V8 powertrain boasting 1,275hp and new aero including the extendable rear wing, let's check it out! McLaren's history includes two of the greatest road supercars ever; F1 and P1, now with W1 to follow up and continue this legacy. Launched 50 years to the day after McLaren's first Formula 1 World Championship title win with Emerson Fittipaldi, the W in the name links to the World Championship philosophy. Boasting 1,275hp and 1,340Nm from the MHP-8 4.0l twin turbocharged V8, an entirely new engine versus that seen before, combined with an e-system developed from McLaren's racing in IndyCar. All of this sends all the power exclusively to the rear wheels, and boasts impressive performance with 0-100km/h (62mph) in 2.7s, 0-200km/h (124mph) in 5.8s, and 0-300km/h (186mph) in 12.7s, before reaching a limited top speed of 350km/h (217mph). In a world of big aero, the W1 matches the recently introduced Ferrari F80's 1,000kg of downforce, in this case with the unique element of the rear wing that extends by 300mm out of the back of the car; quite literally a Long Tail. Additionally, the interior is accessed by new Anhedral 'gullwing' doors, to house an all new cabin with plenty of details to share - and benefitted by folding headrests to access a storage area behind the seats. It has been an honour to visit McLaren in Woking to explore the new W1 and present a first look in person of the new car. No doubt the upcoming customers of McLaren's latest hypercar are going to own a phenomenal machine.
