Powerful conversation between trans activist and poet Purity and author Faiaz | Bokmässan 2024

Meet Purity and Faiaz. Purity was born in Uganda and arrived in Sweden in 2021 after 5 years as a refugee in Kenya. Purity is a trans woman and trans activist, and in this video - from the Göteborg Book Fair - she performs a moving poem about her journey. Faiaz, from the Balkh Province in Afghanistan, arrived in Sweden in 2015. Faiaz works as a writer and journalist and has written seven books. Listen as he reads from his latest book, Gosale: Tre idioters äventyr. Purity and Faiaz, both former participants in UNHCR's Refugee Speakers Programme, also discuss what it means to represent or not represent a refugee community.
