The video presents a ride through Old City of BRASOV, by a little tourist train. Brasov is a city in the TRANSYLVANIA region of ROMANIA, ringed by the CARPATHIAN mountains. It's known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes. The Black Church was built by the local Transylvanian Saxon community during medieval times, and represents the main Gothic-style monument in Romania. Fringed by the peaks of the Southern CARPATHIAN Mountains and resplendent with Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture, BRASOV is one of the most beautiful and visited places in Romania. BRASOV was founded, in 1211, by the TEUTONIC KNIGHTS, on an ancient DACIAN site. The two names of the city, KRONSTADT and CORONA, were used simultaneously in the MIDDLE AGES, along with the MEDIEVAL LATIN BRASSOVIA. Founded by Teutonic Knights in 1211 and first mentioned in documents as Brașov in 1251, it became the centre of a SAXON COLONY trading in cloth, weapons, metalwork, and wax throughout much of WALACHIA and MOLDAVIA.
