In this video I’ll show you how to make the signature Chinese dish Red Braised Pork Belly or Hong Shao Rou! Subscribe to our channel for more simple home made recipes! / @samandfengcooking Instagram: / samandfengcooking Printable recipe: http://samandfengcooking.com/ Recipe: 1 ½ - 2 lbs pork belly 3 tablespoons soy sauce 1 ½ tablespoon dark soy sauce 3 tablespoon sugar ⅓ cup Shaoxing wine 2 cups reserved blanching liquid 1 inch piece of ginger 3 green onion 2 whole star anise pods 1. Cut the pork belly into small pieces if you bought it whole. 2. In a medium sized pot, add the pork belly and enough water to cover it completely. 3. Cook on high heat until the water reaches a full boil, boil for 5 minutes and use a spoon or small mesh strainer to discard the brown foam on the top until the liquid is clear. 4. Strain the pork and reserve 2 cups of the blanching liquid. 5. To another pot add the sugar, Shaoxing wine, dark soy sauce, soy sauce, reserved blanching liquid, ginger, green onion, and star anise pods. 6. Add the pork belly into the braising liquid. Bring to a boil and turn down the heat to let simmer. 7. Braise for around 1 hour and 30 minutes, after an hour, make sure to check more often as the liquid will start to thicken near the end. 8.
