Euploidy is all about how many complete sets of chromosomes are present in a cell. A cell with one set of chromosomes (one of each type) is haploid (n). A cell with two sets of chromosomes (two of each type) is diploid (2n). Polyploid cells have many chromosome sets - triploid cells (3n) have three sets, octaploid cells (8n) have eight sets, and other polyploid cells can have even more! 00:00 Intro 00:08 What is ploidy (euploidy)? 00:22 Haploid cells have one set of chromosomes 00:34 The haploid number (n) 01:00 Diploid cells have two sets of chromosomes 01:29 Humans are diploid (haploid sperm and haploid egg combine!) 01:55 How many chromosomes do humans have? 02:19 Triploid cells have three sets of chromosomes 02:41 PRACTICE How many chromosomes would be in a triploid human cell? 03:05 Polyploidy is three or more chromosomes sets (triploidy, tetraploidy, octaploidy, etc.) New videos are always on the way - subscribe so you don't miss any of my biology tips :) Connect with me!
