The Buliisa District Education Department is facing a challenge of a shortage of teachers in government-aided primary schools. The district has 31 government-aided primary schools with a staffing gap of about one hundred teachers. According to the Buliisa District Inspector of Schools, Sophia Kabonesa, the district is supposed to have around four hundred seventy teachers, but currently they have three hundred seventy-five, creating a staffing gap of about one hundred teachers. Meanwhile, TotalEnergies E&P Uganda has offered to pay school fees for 10 children who performed well in PLE.
