The EltaMD UV Physical tinted sunscreen SPF 41 is a lightly tinted mineral sunscreen that contains only zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. This has been my favorite tinted mineral sunscreen to date, one that I have used for the past 2 years. The EltaMD physical sunscreen is great for people of lighter skin tones compared with the EltaMD Elements tinted sunscreen, the latter of which is better for deeper skin tones. Either way, the iron oxides in this tinted sunscreen can help protect against blue light and visible light, potentially driving down hyperpigmentation and the visible signs of skin aging. This sunscreen is an SPF 41, which is highly recommended for protecting against a sunburn and the visible signs of skin aging. The EltaMD tinted mineral sunscreen is very hydrating and moisturizing. The product also contains plant-derived polyphenol quercetin, which may possess the ability to absorb ultraviolet radiation. Additionally, the sunscreen also contains alpha lipoic acid, which holds antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities according to some research studies. Whether these antioxidants actually get into your skin and protect against environmental oxidation has yet to be seen in clinical studies, at least in regard to the EltaMD product. All EltaMD products, including this EltaMD UV physical tinted face sunscreen, is marketed with the medical-grade label. Only products with this label are sold in doctor’s offices compared with general marketplaces. This doesn’t necessarily mean the products are better or more effective than products you can buy anywhere else. Despite the marketing, I highly recommend this sunscreen to anyone looking to start wearing tinted mineral sunscreens.
