Official audio for The Ethiopians' 1967 hit single, 'Train To Skaville' Written and first recorded by Leonard Dillon and the Ethiopians in 1967, 'Train To Skaville' was one of the most influential recordings to be issued during the rock steady era. Issued in the UK on the obscure Rio label, the recording achieved the unthinkable in the autumn of that year when it breached the British pop charts, spending 6 weeks on the nation’s Top 50 listings, and peaking at a respectable number 40 on 26 September. The song later provided the baseline for the Maytals '54 46 That's My Number' (later recut as '54 46 Was My Number'), Marcia Griffiths's 'Feel Like Jumping' and 'Boops' by Super Cat, while in 1980, leading British 2Tone band, the Selector covered the number for the flip-side of their fifth single.
