'Parali' Nighmare: Stubble Burning Cases Rise in Punjab & Haryana Ahead of Smog Season | News9

As the smog season approaches in the national capital, authorities are cracking down on stubble burning, a major cause of air pollution. Since September 15, 75 cases of stubble burning have been reported in Punjab, with 27 FIRs filed under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Red entries have been made in 17 farmers’ land records, while fines totaling ₹1.5 lakh have been imposed in 32 cases. Amritsar alone accounts for more than half of the cases. In Haryana, three farmers in Karnal were penalized, fined, and barred from selling crops at MSP for the next two seasons.
