Dana Valery Catalano (born Fausta Dana Galli in Codogno, Italy, in 1944) is a singer, actress and television performer. She came to South Africa with her parents at the age of 4, and took singing lessons for many years whilst at school. At the age of 16 she returned to Italy to launch her singing career. She sang at the Cafe Roma on the Italian Riviera, and subsequently entered and won the famous Milan Song Festival. In 1962 she returned to South Africa, and began a long and very successful collaboration with Dan Hill, which resulted in her releasing a number of albums and 7” singles. On 11 September 1964 she became the first female ballad singer to win the coveted SARI award for best female vocalist, a feat she repeated in 1965. During her distinguished career she has performed on television, radio, Broadway and in live concert performances worldwide, including major cities such as New York, London, Monte Carlo, Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Johannesburg. She is the sister of the late singer and actor Sergio Franchi. This song is off the album "All'Italiana", released in 1963.
