In this video from Partzilla.com, we’ll explain what tires sizes mean for your ATV or UTV and give you a little help in choosing the right tire for your ATV or UTV. There are two types of tire sizes you’ll generally see: standard and metric. First, we’ll walk you through what the numbers mean on an ATV tire with a standard size. There are three numbers, and they represent the outside diameter of the tire, the tire width, and the size of the rim that will fit the tire. Then, we’ll walk you through a metric-sized ATV tire. You’ll recognize a metric sizing because it will contain a slash. The numbers are width first, then sidewall height represented as a percentage of the width, and finally a rim diameter that is represented in inches despite this being a metric sizing. Can you change the size of your ATV tires? Sure, but there are some things to consider: you’ll need to think about how the tire will fit on your ATV and where you’re riding. A wider tire will give you more grip, but the narrower tire will give you a little more control. In general, you’ll see wider tires on the back of your ATV or side by side and a narrower tire up front so you can get the benefits of both widths of tire.
