You have a lot more options when you can hit with forehand instead of backhand in the rear court and backhand shots are also harder to play. In this video I show you the footwork technique that will help you to cover your around the head corner and still hit with the forehand. ----Additional Tips------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ There are a few more important things that I do not mention in the video but that I want to point out. That hopstep not only helps you to cover extra distance, but it also allows you to turn your foot, and by that you can also turn your hip further to the back. That you can use for extra power in your scissor jump. How much you turn and how far you jump always depends on the situation and especially how much time you have and how much space you have to cover. Try to adjust the length of your jump so you always get into a good spot to execute a china jump. For longer distances or smaller players sometimes also need an additional chasse step after the turning of the body. When you only have little time, so for example when your opponent plays a flat lift, you need to turn even quicker when you want to take forehand. There it can also make sense to not jump at all with the non dominant leg. When you do that, you cannot turn so far, and won’t be able to hit with full power, but at least you can take the forehand when the shuttle is not too far away.
