Author of the Cookbook that Changed the World: Fannie Farmer - Freedom's Way NHA Heritage Stories

Fannie Farmer (1857-1915) earned the moniker "Mother of Level Measurements" for writing The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book (1896), the first cookbook to use standardized measurements in recipes. Fannie attended high school in Medford, Massachusetts, one of forty-five communities in the Freedom's Way National Heritage Area. Heritage Stories is an exciting multi-year project of the Freedom’s Way Heritage National Heritage Area that uses state-of-the-art media to share the stories of the visionaries and experimenters that lived within its boundaries with the widest possible audience.
