Today we will talk about Pomors - representatives of the northernmost Russian populations of the White Sea. It is believed that these are the descendants of the Novgorodians, who settled from the 12th century along the coast of the White Sea from Onega to Kemi, as well as along the coast of the Barents Sea. The Pomors adapted their way of life and culture to the harsh natural conditions of the northern seas, engaging in fishing, sea hunting, entrepreneurship and navigation on the White Sea, in the Arctic Ocean and on its islands, competing with the Norwegians. And although the Pomors differed in their way of life from the northern Russians, they still retained the features of the Old Russian culture, while interacting with the population of Northern and North-Eastern Europe. Therefore, the population of this region is extremely peculiar, which interested scientists along with the nuances of the evolution of populations on the very periphery of the ethnic range. #archaeology #genetics #gene pool #history #science -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- --- 💲Support the channel: Map: 2200 0305 0111 2842 Optional: 5599 0020 1382 0180 / @history_paleogenetics https://www.donationalerts.com/r/babo... https://boosty.to/archaeogenetics Guaranteed Answer Questions: https://www.donationalerts.com/askme/...
