This roll was cut using Sheet Music Boss' arrangement of this piece. I added a few extra octaves in a few places where I felt it would add more movement to this recording. This is a player piano. A player piano works on a system of pouches, valves and bellows controlled by a paper roll with perforations. The perforations being the notes in the music. Comparable to midi the rolls work the same. This is where the name of the computer program "piano roll" comes from. The paper is wound on a spool and pulled onto another over the trackerbar, which senses the holes in the paper by pulling air through them to trigger the mentioned system to play the note. The pneumatic operating system found in this piano was in its infant stages starting in the late 1890s. This piano was made in the 1920s, which by that point the mechanism was more compact, efficient, and responsive to repetition of notes and dynamics. In this case I have HAND CUT a roll of Sweden. Unfortunately this roll will not be available to other player piano owners as I do not have a perforator to mass produce copies. For information on how I cut it please see the attached video: • Mice On Venus (From Minecraft) Handmade pi... This process took me around twenty hours to complete and is very tedious. I'm trying to improve it but at the time this is the best I have. In one place during the song you can hear an extra note from a perforation that was too wide. It only had a problem once I began recording. Great thanks to Sheet Music Boss for transcribing the arrangement and being supportive of my projects in this field on my channel. / @sheetmusicboss An even larger of the same to the composer of the music C418 / @c418 I do this to hopefully spark more interest in the player piano, as it and the people who care about them are slowly disappearing. I hope that people can see it as something to preserve, use and not to trash, and to see as a serious musical instrument instead of a mediocracy. Hopefully you enjoy this video.
