The SONY TC160A Vintage 7-Inch Reel to Reel Tape Recorder dates from approximately 1970 and is a fine example of SONY's quality engineering -- but the machine poses a mystery. The vintage tape recorder features 7-inch reel capacity, three speeds (1-7/8, 3-3/4 and 7-1/2 ips) via a motor drive idler, AC bias and an 8 watt solid state amplifier. Attractive in design with a wood grain and black plastic case, the tape recorder boasts excellent sound quality at all three speeds, with a rich warm analog sound. This SONY TC160A vintage reel to reel tape recorder presents a mystery however. When it arrive at ClydeSight Productions, the mechanical system was completely frozen and seized. None of the mechanical functions worked because none of the complex parts in the vintage tape recorder would move! This video is a documentation of the complete resurrection of the SONY TC160A Vintage 7-Inch Reel to Reel Tape Recorder from the moment it arrives at ClydeSDight Productions workshop through final successful run in both record and play at all three speeds. The Resurrecting the SONY TC106A Vintage 7-Inch Reel to Reel Tape Recorder video is sponsored by the mystery novel: "The Cross of Ramplet - The Mystery of Throckmorton Manor." This rollicking parody of traditional mystery novels follows the adventures of the scheming Throckmorton family as they work against each other in their search for what is reported to have been the greatest of the lost treasures of the Knights Templar, the fabulous Cross of Ramplet, rumored to be worth a king's ransom and the key to the greatest secret in Christendom. Set in Regency England, the land of Jane Austin, the novel captures the spirit of the times while entertaining modern readers with puzzles and plenty of double cross confusion. The Cross of Ramplet - The Mystery of Throckmorton Manor is available from Amazon for the KINDLE reader. However, you do not need to own a KINDLE device to read the e-book. Amazon provides a free KINDLE for PC reader on their web site, so readers can purchase the book and read it on their computer!
