Evidence from studies throughout the world have shown that the characteristics and dynamics of places can contribute to crime and violence. This is particularly acute in areas such as informal settlements where there are high levels of poverty, insecure living conditions and insufficient government services, including inadequate provision of housing and other physical infrastructure. This webinar explored how interventions to upgrade aspects of informal settlements can improve safety and security for residents.
