Hey everyone! It’s Shimmy here, and I just got back from my yearly trip to Uman, Ukraine for Rosh Hashana by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. It all started at 2:30 AM when I got up, excited to head out. From the moment I left the house, I was singing and dancing—it’s a special feeling when you're on your way to your Rebbe! We had a stop in Turkey, but the energy never stopped. 😁 The whole journey felt like a celebration, and the vibes from all the chassidim traveling were just incredible. When I arrived in Ukraine, the atmosphere was electric! Uman before Yom Tov is always full of energy, with everyone busy preparing. You can feel the excitement in the air. I spent time getting ready for Yom Tov, soaking in the special Breslov minhag (tradition) to be by Rebbe Nachman for Rosh Hashana. Before Yom Tov started, I shared my wishes and hopes for the new year—it’s such a powerful time, and this year was no different. My Yom Tov was amazing, full of joy and connection. Leaving Uman was a bit of a journey. We drove for hours to cross the border through Moldova, but every minute was worth it. This trip is something I do every year, no matter what—even during the war.
