Deb: "Oso is 14 years old. He is a very good dog. A couple years ago, we found out that he had Cushings, that is why he is overweight. He is being treated for that and doing well. However, a couple months ago, on morning, he could not get up. His right side was paralyzed. I brought him to his vet. They took x-rays. They couldn't find anything really wrong. Then they started him on steroids and laser treatments. He was like that for a couple weeks and he was not getting better. I thought he was starting to get worse, because he lost control with his bladder. So he started having trouble going to the bathroom by himself, and I know that would have been really bad. I called my chiropractor and asked him to recommend a dog chiropractor, because chiropractic for me has been really good. I went on the website and found Dr. Erin who accommodated him right away on a Saturday afternoon. Since the first time we came here, he started walking! He has been doing wonderful. We are trying to give him the best life we can!" Hi Dr. Erin O'Connor here to talk really quick about Oso's case. Oso came in with right sided paralysis, both his right front leg and right back back leg were paralyzed and he couldn't walk. A lot of times when we get paralysis cases, we get dogs coming in with both back legs paralyzed, so this was a little bit different of a case, but we still will look to one main cause for it. Usually when we look at the atlas, which is the first vertebrae in the neck, we find a pretty severe misalignment. The atlas is where the brain stem develops in the spinal cord, so if there is interference in this area, you can have some major neurological issues such as seizures and of course back leg paralysis. By removing the interference and allowing Oso's body to heal, he was able to walk again after his first adjustment. We are very happy that he is back to walk and getting around to where he needs to go. Vitality Chiropractic Center http://myvitalitychiropractic.com
