Changing a burnt out light bulb in the bathroom 8/2025. I installed 3 EcoSmart (EcoDumb) 72-watts halogen / 100-watts "incandescent equivalent" bulbs shortly after I moved in a little over 3 years ago. The bulbs are rated for 1,000 hours average lifespan. The bulbs are used approximately 45 minutes/day, more or less, and have frequent on/off cycles which typically shortens lifespan. I estimate they are approaching 800-900 hours of operation at this point. This is the first one to fail. The bathroom light fixture is in need of cleaning and perhaps some repairs. The wiring in the bathroom is a total disaster and needs to be completely reworked. I will clean the fixture when I temporarily remove it to work on the wiring. It's a very nice fixture which I believe is original to the house and is still in surprisingly good condition for something used in a bathroom with a shower.
