Living an off grid life on a Canal boat can be challenging, especially in winter. But for me, nature provides the space and stillness to clear my mind, be in the now! I like to get out into the wild, whatever the weather, to explore, connect with nature, the wildlife, and, of course, find that deeper connection with the self. This month, there's been lots of snow, and the canal has frozen over, leaving me and my home trapped in the ice for a few weeks, but I have managed to survive. The winter wonderland views look amazing, and opposite my mooring, I witness a deer, a fox, and a barn owl. Taking a walk into the woodland, I enjoy a moment of fun and go on to find a tranquil space beside a tree, where I sit down and find stillness. Nature is my healer, my painkiller, and peace provider! ABOUT... Ten years ago, I suddenly lost my wife to cancer. My world fell apart, and one morning, I woke up in the hospital after attempting to take my own life. From that moment, I started my journey to finding peace and tranquillity by living on the canal. I've managed to turn my life around and get back on my feet. In all the peace and stillness that I experience now, my happiness, self-confidence, and love has returned.
