This Christmas walk starts in Ledeni Park at King Tomislav Square, where the famous winter ice rink, food stalls and fairground rides glow under thousands of lights. From there, we cross to Strossmayer Park, with its smaller market and live-music area, and continue into magical Zrinjevac Park, where wooden huts, ornaments and light tunnels create one of the most photogenic corners of Advent in Zagreb. We then reach the heart of the city at Ban Josip Jelačić Square, packed with stands selling mulled wine, sausages, fritule, štrukli and other Croatian Christmas treats. The walk continues into the Old Town (Gornji Grad), passing historic streets and viewpoints, before descending through the colourfully lit Grič Tunnel, one of Zagreb’s most popular Advent attractions. On the way back, we pass the elegant Esplanade Hotel and the beautifully illuminated Croatian National Theatre, then continue towards the Zagreb City Museum area and the city center at night, full of crowds, decorations and market stalls.
