READ DESCRIPTION!!! K1 Speed featuring new shifter karts that is exclusively at K1 Carlsbad, CA at the moment, but may appear in more locations in the mere future. I don't have all of the specifications on the kart, but I will tell you what I know. *NOTE: Please be advised that you cannot ride them if you are at K1 for the first time. You must have minimum 1 K1 racing kart experience to ride them. Features automatic or manual 3 speed sequential Green button is for boost (Recharges every 3 Laps) little red button is for reverse Big red button is the on and off switch Working Cluster Display Rear brake lights 4 point adjustable harness Kart Experience: Wheels and tires are gripper using different compounds and from kart testers, they have used smaller front wheels/tires to accommodate more turn in rotation (same size used in Junior karts) for this location and may vary if it appears in other locations. The steering is a bit heavier and the pedals have more response to them. Brakes give more bite, but not much more to the standard. It is more powerful accelerating, but if you are looking in terms of speed, it isn't much faster than the standard Karts (1-3mph faster). Drawback? It does take longer to charge (Avg full charge every 2 or other heat sessions) Personal notes and Verdict: This was my first time going on the kart so it took some time to adjust and feel the kart so clocking a blistering time was not a priority. With the shifter in mind, you really have to pull the paddle and make sure you pull all the way or else it wont read which you may see me pulling a few times to grab the appropriate gear. It is certainly more of an adrenaline rush for those looking for the closer F1/ Formula-E experience with more factors and giving the driver more control, see no more. The sound coming from the kart is well of course simulated but as a trade off it gives audible feedback so while I'm not a super huge fan of the fabricated noise, it adds to the racing experience that you are that much closer to the real thing. This is can be an insight to the future of kart racing so stay tuned and enjoy! IS IT WORTH IT? If you are looking for a closer experience to any GT or Formula style racing as the avid die hard enthusiast, absolutely for the $20 session, but if you are not local or not willing to wait for the possible longer wait times. the updated black standard karts are not far off and give a similar experience for the same money.
