Suspect killed, officer hurt in Mesa shooting l FOX 10 Phoenix

A shooting early Wednesday morning in the East Valley left an officer injured and a suspect dead. According to Mesa Police, officers on Oct. 29 responded just after 2 a.m. to reports of a possibly impaired man trespassing near Sossaman and Ray Roads. When officers made contact with the man, police say he was confrontational and fled the scene in a vehicle. Police used a grappler to stop the suspect, who then did not follow officers' commands. When officers tried to use less-than-lethal force to stop the suspect, police say he opened fire from inside his car. One officer was struck and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was found dead inside the vehicle.
