During the Mughal period, Qasba Nuh was a famous centre for salt production. Although Sambhar in Rajasthan was the biggest salt production centre. Nuh supplied salt to the nearby qasbas of Haryana and the Ganga-Yamuna Doab. According to the late 19th-century settlement report of Gurgaon district, in the adjoining qasba Nuh were villages, namely Kherla, Ranila Khurd, Sampal, Malab, Firozpur Namak, Adhar Bai, Dundaheri, Salaheri, Untka, Firozpur Namak, and Salamba, which, too, manufactured salt. These villages annually produced 1,200 maunds of salt, priced at 25 rupees per 100 maunds.
