In 1940 during the beginning of World War 2 after the Blitzkrieg invasion of France, a German delegation met with Spanish leader Francisco Franco.They met at a train station on the Spanish French border, hoping to persuade Spain to join the Axis powers in World War II. Despite their past collaboration during the Spanish Civil War, Franco refused. Why did Franco choose neutrality? Was it because he feared the Allies, a British naval blockade of Spain, or even a British invasion of the Iberian Peninsula? Why did some spanish soldiers ended up fighting against Stalin in Russia with the Blue Division or most commonly known División Azul. In the video, I also analyze why many German soldiers and high-ranking officers of the German army, such as Otto Skorzeny, came to Spain after World War II.
