La Gomera - A Week of Walking

In April 2017 we (Mike Newton & my wife Naoko Motohiro) spent a week walking in La Gomera, a small island off the course of Tenerife. We flew from Leeds-Bradford to Tenerife, stayed overnight in Los Cristianos, then caught the Fred Olsen Express ferry to San Sebastian. We hired a Vauxhall Corsa automatic from CICAR then drove across to Playa de Santiago, our beautiful resort. We stayed in the Pension Gaviota for 6 nights, excellent accommodation with our room having a balcony that overlooked the bay with the sea being just metres away. We spent 4 days walking with a fifth day walking around Playa de Santiago. Finally we drove back to San Sebastian. We had no rain with the temperature between 16 to 24 DegC. The scenery was extraordinary. The road surfaces were excellent but driving as scary as almost every road was up or down, and the roads bending back and forth with normally one side being a sheer drop. We really enjoyed our trip.
