To support the Steelers and Beth and Amy's fundraising visit www.justgiving.com/bethusher or text AMYU92 with your amount '£1 £2 £3 £4 £5 or £10' to 70070 Players from The Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey team took part in the ice bucket challenge in support of Weston Park Hospital patient, Amy Usher. In 2012, 21-year-old Amy Usher was living a busy and active lifestyle at University in Lincoln when she began to feel unwell. Just months later, and after several tests and X-rays, she was given the devastating diagnosis of a rare form of incurable throat cancer. From that moment, Amy’s big sister Beth vowed to help support Amy by raising as much money as possible for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, as Amy received the majority of her treatment and care at the hospital. In a bid to continue supporting Amy through her cancer battle, the Steelers players took part in the social media craze, the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ to help raise even more money for and awareness of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity. The girls’ relationship with the Sheffield Steelers began when they received some free tickets to go and watch one of the homes games. Since then, Beth and Amy have formed a close relationship with the team and their support network, even travelling to away games on the players bus.
