Kathy Schwin was born in Berea Ohio on July 27 1965. She was the youngest of 8 children. Her parents are Edward Allen(passed in 1983) and Barbara Anne Schwin. Brothers are Mike, Dave, Larry(passed in 2006), Steve and Paul. Her sisters are Laura, Jean, Bernie(life long friend) and Marrissa(life long friend). Her nieces are Barb, Julia, Jessica and Jasmine(daughter of Marrissa). Her nephews are Robert, Joey, Matt(son of Dave), Matt(son of Steve), Justin, Josh and Jimmie(son of Marrissa) Kate lived and loved life to its fullest. In return life loved her right back. Katie loved country music and could not wait to go to any country concert she could get to. She bowled some, she line danced some, she partied some and she loved her electronics. Boy did Katie love her Soap Operas? I learned to just sit there and shut-up real quick. Katie worked at JACO in Berea for 27 years. She was a fixture there. Katie was blessed to have been room mates with her co-worker Berni and Bernie's daughter Marrissa for many many years. Marrissa's son and daughter were Katie's pride. Last thing she was physically able to ask for near the end was to see "Her babies", Jimmy and Jasmine. Katie was unfortunately robbed of the last half of her life, and ours, by ovarian cancer. She passed away February 5 2010 at the very young age of 44. Katie's choice was to battle this disease with all she had the moment she found out what was wrong. I stood by her side every day for the last 5 months of her life and watched her fight the good fight every single day she was allowed to fight. I am so proud of her. She was a rock the entire time she battled. She took everything cancer threw at her and never shed a tear. She was so brave, she was so tough. Tougher than cancer ever could be. She was blessed to be surrounded by many family members and friends at the moment she passed. We all stood in silence as we laid hands on her as she was given her last rights. I could tell she felt the over-pouring love even at those last minutes as she slipped away to her heavenly place. Some helped allot, allot helped some. It seemed that everyone managed to pitch in to what ever level they were capable of. She had a great team around her. Cancer lost this battle because of everything it took away from her it could not touch that love she shared with everyone. Kathie was truly meek, we have all been told the meek shall inherit the Earth. If you have to ask why Dirty dancing was in the background of the video than you didn't know Katie, if that is the case thanks for reading this memorial this far. A special thanks to Godmother and Godfather, her Aunt Joe and Uncle Bob Brown for allowing Katie to choose your home to be her home. You will never know how much it meant to all of us.
