Hi folks, today we're going to show you a great overdrive: the Double Drive by Tech 21. This is a discontinued pedal, but it's not hard to find for an excellent price. Josh Scott (JHS Pedal) stated that the Double Drive "[...] is the most realistic cranked EL84 sound I've ever heard [...]". The Vox AC30 is probably the most famous amp with EL84 tubes. If you're looking for a "cranked AC 30" in a pedal, the Double Driver is your address. However, the Double Driver is more than just that. With this pedal, you can blend the sound of a cranked Class A tube amp with the sound of a Class A/B tube amp. #tech21 #overdrive #guitarpedal DRIVE A controls the amount of Class A power amp output stage distortion (Vox AC30-style amp), rich in even harmonics. DRIVE A/B controls the amount of Class A/B power amp output stage distortion (Fender/Marshall-style amps), rich in odd harmonics. The signal path of Drive A runs into the signal path of Drive A/B. This results in an electronic multiplication, rather than addition, of the amount of distortion to achieve a cascading effect.
