One of our first introduction to the modern art, creativity and academia of Japan came through the Kyoto Journal. For readers throughout its history, the Kyoto Journal is a lighthouse, showing us some of the best art and most interesting thinkers in Japan, who otherwise would remain inaccessible or unknown to non Japanese-speakers. We were very fortunate to visit Japan and speak with one of the Publishers of the Kyoto Journal (and renowned Photographer) John Einarsen. In part one of our interview we discuss the history of the Kyoto Journal, the creative process behind the magazine, and how they are helping a new audience learn about the art, culture and brilliant thinkers of Japan.
