This video explains inflation and why it keeps the rich richer, and the poor poorer. Inflation is the cause of the price of everything going up, or the value of money going down and is something that can make or break a country. Inflation is regularly measured and released as a percentage called the CPI or consumer price index. The 3 main factors that cause inflation are: 1) Cost Push Inflation - When the cost to produce anything is pushed up by any combination of factors and then that gets passed onto the consumer in the form of higher prices. 2) Demand Pull Inflation - Where more consumer demand exceeds what the economy can supply. And so that means that buyers have to effectively bid up prices to get what they want. 3 - Qualitative Easing - When governments start printing more money. Actually it's a bit more complicated than that but essentially every dollar that is created reduces the value of every other dollar in circulation by a tiny bit.
