A talk from Dr Derek Magee, a lecturer in computer science at the University of Leeds, UK and Chief technical officer of spinout company HeteroGenius Ltd. He is visiting the University of Auckland for the month of March, and is happy to talk about collaboration in the area of large scale image analysis. In this talk an overview of Digital Pathology Image analysis research undertaken at the University of Leeds over the last 12 years will be given. This will include highlights such as 3D Histopathology from serial sections, Multistain:Multi-slide fusion, Histopathology:Radiology fusion, Cell nuclei detection, and stain colour separation and correction. The talk will introduce a web-technology based computational framework (The Medical Image Manager a.k.a. "MIM") we have developed for practical analysis and visualisation of sets of very large histopathology images by biomedical and clinical researchers. This tool is continually developing to include the range of methods that have been developed in Leeds over the years.
