Mark Harmer plays Carolan's Farewell to Music: Concert May 8 2010 Dunsby church, Lincolnshire

Carolan spent his final days at the MacDermott-Roe household. The night he died, it is said, he called for his harp and played this tune, the melody that has become known as "Carolan's Farewell to Music". As with all of Carolan's pieces, only the melodies are available, so each harp player can create his or her own arrangement. I have gone for some slightly more extreme harmony in this piece towards the end. This was taken at a public concert with just the one camera at the back of the church - but on the plus side, without the usual editing, you get to concentrate on the music!
