#introverts #introvertpersonality Others may be well meaning, but can make an introvert feel trapped. Some people think introverts don't like to socialize, which is not always true--they just need an escape when they are done socializing. Introverts can feel trapped in the following situations: They are ready to leave a social event but feel trapped because they came with someone else who doesn't want to leave. They are the listener to a person who won't quit talking. They are hosting visitors in their home and feel obligated to socialize without being able to take a break. Introverts can plan their own escapes by taking their own transportation to events, taking breaks from visitors such running errands or making an excuse to leave the room. In Susan Cain's book, Quiet, she refers to Brian Little, who calls these escapes "restorative niches", allowing the introvert to return to their true selves before having to reenter a social interaction which can cause exhaustion or anxiety.
