Walking at Wycoller Country Park near Colne , on the Lancashire & Yorkshire border. Lovely place to visit and this was an exceptionally sunny day for the end of November. This is a video of our time there and the circular walk which took us up to the Atom. Fabulous views towards Pendle Hill. Also a bit of drone footage of the ruin of the Hall. Wycoller Country Park is one of the prettiest Country Parks in Lancashire. The area is famous for its association with the Brontè sisters who referred to many of the nearby landmarks in books such as "Wuthering Heights" and "Jane Eyre". The exclusion of cars from the village and the attractive appearance of the many preserved old buildings creates a unique feeling of tranquillity which is rarely experienced today. The Country Park has many footpaths leading to local beauty spots which include Bank House and Wycoller Beck. Disabled toilet facilities are provided within the Country Park as well as an information centre at the Aisled Barn. The Pennine Bridleway passes right through Wycoller. Design by Peter Meacock with Katarina Novomestska and Architecture Central Workshop. Pendle's Panopticon, 'Atom', rests on the hillside above Wycoller village in Wycoller Country Park. Constructed in ferro-cement with a surface coating of metal-based paint, it is both a striking contemporary viewing point and shelter from which to enjoy Pendle's glorious scenery, and an intriguing and beautiful object which can be viewed from afar. From inside, its circular viewing spaces frame spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
