Location: Kharon’s Crown Planet Virell-3 Sector 7E Halathean Expanse, outer Trenzar Spiral The descent was turbulent. A pressure imbalance in the port thruster made landing feel like surfing a dying wind. But we made it—though the ship’s environmental seals groan every time the temperature dips below freezing, which it does often here. Virell-3 is quiet, windless for the most part, but the sky pulses like it holds its breath. The clouds hang heavy with silicate haze. Gravity sits at 0.82 standard—light enough to carry my pack for hours without fatigue. Ahead stretches what the maps call Kharon’s Crown—a petrified field of massive stone obelisks, each one ruptured and slanting like broken teeth biting at the sky. There are at least fourteen within walking distance, though the fog creeps in and out, hiding more in the distance. Some of them hum faintly at night, as if holding memory. I stood beneath one for nearly twenty minutes, watching a thin thread of condensation coil from a crack like breath escaping from a sealed tomb. The stone—composite, partly synthetic—contains traces of vanadium and a curious isotope not logged in our current database. Something artificial, ancient, perhaps predating human civilization by eons. We’ve scanned for electromagnetic signals. Nothing. Total silence. But the arrangement… It feels ceremonial. Monumental. Like a society vanished mid-ritual, the echoes of their purpose still suspended in the leaning geometry of their works. No signs of life. No birds, no wind, no insects. Just the faint crackle of my suit’s oxygen system and the occasional creak of cooling metal on the lander. I’ve started speaking aloud more, just to hear a voice in the stillness. This place is beautiful in the way that lost cities are beautiful—ruined, resigned, reverent. As if it waits for someone to remember its name. I’ve taken core samples. We’ll analyze them when I return to orbit. If the shuttle’s docking array doesn’t seize up again. For now, I’ll camp here, beneath the tallest of these fallen titans. They say explorers aren’t poets—but tonight, under this alien sky, I might become one. "All that endures must be silent before it can be known." —Fragment inscribed on the southern obelisk, translation pending. #scifiambient #ambient #ambientmusic #soundscape #backgroundmusic #drone #dystopia #postapocalyptic #postapocalypse #darkambient #emotionalmusic #existentialmusic #noisemusic #meditationmusic #musicforsleep #musicforstudying #musicformeditation #musicforthesoul #musicforstudy #ambientmusicforstudying #ambientmusicforsleep #ambientmusicforwork #musicforprogramming #relaxingambientmusic #dystopianmusic #ambientsound #ambientsoundscapes #distanthorizon #scarymusic #horrormusicsoundeffect #horromusic
