How to release emotions? From my experience, it takes three steps: 1. Allowing yourself to feel the emotion. No suppression, no numbing (like food, work, etc), no distraction (like your mobile phone). Alllowing the discomfort in your body. Paradoxically, by making space for the emotion, you are enabling it to leave. 2. Observing the emotion without believing in the stories that come up, like "everything always goes wrong for me". Those are your limiting beliefs showing up, but you don't have to believe them. If you stick to the stories, you also stick to the emotion. 3. Accepting things as they are and were instead of diving into thoughts about how you could have avoided the feeling and the discomfort that comes with it. Everyone is always doing their best. Take accountability but don't beat yourself up. Quiet your mind. This way the emotion can leave your body and system, permanently. Note that the emotion might still come up again, but this is normal, because we shed emotions in layers, like an onion. What has helped you to release heavy emotions?
