Timestamps: 00:00 Intro 00:26 Back Bay History 1:00 Back Bay's Location 1:17 Back Bay Shopping 1:26 Food 1:49 Dessert 2:03 Other Activities 2:30 Notable Locations 2:38 Transportation 2:58 Living in Back Bay 3:53 Luxury Back Bay Real Estate 4:15 Outro Back Bay is one of the best neighborhoods in the entire city and today I am going to go in depth to tell you why that is I’ve left markers down below as always so you can skim through to sections you want to see most and if you haven't done so already please subscribe to the channel to see future Boston content Back Bay is by far one of the most desirable and most beautiful neighborhoods in the city It actually used to be a swamp until they decided to back fill the entire thing in 1857 and create an almost Paris like neighborhood It became so Paris-esque because the Arthur Gilman the man in charge of the building project took huge inspiration from Huassmans renovation of Paris The tree lined streets and brownstone architecture is one of the reasons so many people love Back Bay, but its location is also top notch Back Bay connects to the public gardens and Boston common to the easy making it extremely central and Fenway and the suburbs to the west and it contains some of the best shopping and eating in the city If you’re looking to buy some new clothes then famous Newbury St has you covered and of course there is more shopping on Boylston st along with many great restaurants Some of my favorites are Buttermilk and Bourbon where you can get incredible new orleans style food, I highly recommend the fried chicken There is also stephanies which does an amazing brunch, and saltie girl if your into seafood If you’re looking for dessert there is no lack of places to go to, but my personal favorite is emack and bolios because Ice cream is the best dessert ever invented If you are looking for other things to do I highly recommend going for a walk on the charles river esplanade or down comm ave My personal favorite thing to do is just walk along the streets and check out all the architecture it really feels like you were dropped into a european city. The best time to walk around is the spring when all the trees are blooming trust me its incredible The boston public library is here on Copley square as well and the prudential center In terms of transportation there is plenty both the green line and orange line run into this neighborhood. The commuter rail also connects making it super convenient to get in and out of the suburbs. If you end up living here you will most likely be in one of Boston's famous brownstones. These houses are some of the most beautiful in the whole city, however living here certainly isn't cheap The average single family home price currently is nearly $8 million with condos going for closer to $3 Price per square foot is right around $1,500 Renting here is also expensive with rent per sq foot at about 4.75 cents The neighborhood is made up of mostly working professionals and some families. Many of the smaller condos are pied de terres for wealthy suburban families If a brownstone isnt really your thing there are also a few high end apartment buildings including 77 exeter, the colonnade, and one back bay While it may be one of the most expensive neighborhoods its also simply one of the most beautiful and historic If you are interested in Back Bay real estate or any other Boston neighborhood shoot me an email, I’d be happy to help.
