In this woodworking video journal I explore a couple questions I had spurned on by my latest hobby of disc golf. Can I wood-turn a disc golf disc putter and driver? If I can make them properly, will they fly? Will they fly well? If all that occurs, could they possibly earn a spot in my bag? It's a bit of both yes and no, watch the video to find out the results. There will be some test throws by myself and others, but the majority of the throwing and testing will be performed by Justice and Jordan of @PopTopDiscGolf . Here is the direct link to the video where they test out my discs: • The best WOOD disc ever made! You will be ... Go to their channel and watch their video on these two discs to get their initial reaction seeing the discs for the first time (on camera), their perceptions on the discs flight numbers, a versus contest on 6 holes where I play with the template discs and they play with the wooden ones (who wins?), and finally Jordan throws the driver for a distance guessing competition. Whoever comments with the correct distance (or closest), wins the set of the wooden discs (plus mini) that I made in this video journal. 00:56 - Discs Used for Templates & Materials Used 02:37 - Bandsaw Cuts & Shaping the Putter on the Lathe 06:54 - What is Disc Golf & How to Approach Workflow for Making a Disc 12:38 - Finish Shaping/Sanding the Rest of the Putter 15:09 - Ad break (Wind Indicator Debris) 15:43 - Shaping/Sanding The Driver 18:59 - Pop Top Disc Golf Test Throwing & Giveaway Contest 20:42 - Myself Test Throwing the Discs 22:39 - Discs all Done! Template discs: 2022 Tour Series Kristin Tattar Grace by @Latitude64 . Koi putt/approach disc by @ElevationDiscs Lathe in use: Nova 1624II with Nova chucks. Finish applied: Waterlox Project length: 2-3 hours shaping/sanding. 2-4 days applying finish, 5 days allowed for finish cure. Wood sourcing: Free or recycled. Post video edit clarifications: I refer to the driver as a 14 speed, while the template disc is an 11 speed. What I had done was mirror the shape of the disc wing on the Grace, but I made the wing wider, so while the Grace is the template disc, the wing on the wooden version is much to wide to be considered an 11 speed.
