Potting and Spacing

At Artisan Orchids, an orchid grower from the Netherlands, we have installed a potting and spacing robot (gantry). The robot picks the pots from two different conveyors. Then, it places young plants (just potted ones) pot-tight on a container. More established plants with collars are spaced on a container. The process, which is a very monotonous task, is therefore automated. Installing a potting and spacing robot saves up to 2 Fte and has a return on investment of about 2 years. A special future on the Bosman Van Zaal pot robot is that it is servo controlled. This allows the robot’s movement to be programmed and changed with high precision.
