Katachi amti is an authentic, traditional, Maharashtrian recipe. It is a must with puran poli. It is made using chana dal stock which is used to make puran poli. It is made in different ways. Today we are not adding any tamarind and gudh. Let’s try this hot and spicy katachi amti. Ingredients: For Amti Masala: • 2 tsp Coconut • 1 tsp Oil • 3~4 Garlic cloves • 1 medium size sliced Onion For Amti: 2tsp oil 1 tsp Red chilli powder • Chana dal stock • Salt to taste • In the pan add oil, garlic cloves and onion and tomato. Heat up a pan and add coconut. • Roast until coconut nice and red. • Transfer the roasted coconut into a blender jar. • Fry until onion turns nice and red. • Transfer the onion and tomato and coconut and cloves into blender jar and blend. • Vatan or masala for amti is ready For Amti: • Heat up a pan and add oil. then aad jeera and onion. • Add blended masala and red chilli powder. • Fry masala on medium heat for about 3-4 minutes. • When oil begins to release from sides, add chana dal stock and salt to taste. • Mix well and boil amti for about 7-8 minutes.
