Minister of Justice, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has conducted an oversight visit to the New Brighton Magistrate's Court in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. The aim of the visit is to engage stakeholders and ensure that the courts have sufficient resources to deliver a quality justice system. The visit comes after a Prosecutor from the court, Tracy Brown, was gunned down outside her home last month. The trial of six men accused of the mass murder of 18 people at Ngobozana village in Lusikisiki last year, is under way at the Mthatha High Court, sitting in the Lusikisiki Magistrate's Court in the Eastern Cape. The accused are facing a string of charges, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to murder and kidnapping. Today, the state read a letter to the court from the Ebongweni C-Max Correctional Service Centre in Kokstad, where accused number one, Mzukisi Ndamase, is incarcerated.
