So there are 2 things that can happen as a result of trauma. In other words if you've been through childhood trauma whether from toxic parents narcisistic parents or unavailable parents or any toxic relationship. After it's over, after you're free of all toxic people 1 of 2 things can happen - and I've seen them both: 1. You can get stuck you can get stuck where they left you. In other words toxic relationships change you, they twist you they turn your personality inside out you become less of you and more of them they become more of you less of them theres this crazy personality swap so much changes inside of you and some people that wind up living in narcissistic relationships wind up in that broken state, the other person broke them or the relationship did and they stay stuck there. Ill tell you an extreme case of this that I witnessed with my own eye in my early 20's I didn't know what narcissistic abuse was I didn't know what complex ptsd was I had a glimpse of what BPD was but I didn't really understand all of the dynamics. I had a really good friend, his name was Victor and he would tell me these stories about his dad that were horrible now sometimes I could see a similiarity i understood what he was saying even though I didn't understand why his dad was doing the things he was doing. Victor stayed stuck he couldn't get past the trauma he went through in childhood and at 40 years old he took his own life.
