The Khilafat Movement (1919-1924) and the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-1922) were two significant movements in India's struggle for independence. The Khilafat Movement, led by Maulana Mohammad Ali and Maulana Shaukat Ali, aimed to protect the Ottoman Caliphate after World War I. Mahatma Gandhi saw this as an opportunity to unite Hindus and Muslims against British rule. The Non-Cooperation Movement, initiated by Mahatma Gandhi, urged Indians to boycott British goods, institutions, and services. It was a mass civil disobedience movement aiming for Swaraj (self-rule). The movement gained momentum but was later called off after the Chauri Chaura incident (1922). Watch this video to learn how these movements shaped India's freedom struggle and why the Khilafat Movement ended in 1924 after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk abolished the Caliphate.
