An 8-octave polyphonic tone generator

This is a simple tone generator - well, simple in the sense that it might look very complicated. But in reality it is a simple circuit that is repeated twelve times. I use the well known LM555 - actually in this case it is called NE555 but they are practically the same - and an HCF4024 binary counter or frequency divider. It is pretty much an integrated circuit version of the tone generator from the typical analog organ of the late 1960's and early 1970's. And cheap too... A possible use for the tone generator - a polyphonic 1960's inspired organ - is shown in this video    • Organ keyers for the polyphonic tone gener...   The music is played on Yamaha HE-8 and Technics SX-C600 organs and the rhythm is from a Roland CR-1000 that runs in sync with the Yamaha's own drum machine.
