What is the best way to keep a small quantity of cigars in good condition? We cover all of these humidor types in other videos, but here we're focusing on using them for fewer cigars. We have a number of options here, as the best solution depends on your specific needs. [01:32] Part 1: Wooden Humidors Most cigar aficionados are acquainted with wooden humidors, but they're not for everyone. We recommend them for more experienced smokers, due to the additional care involved. The Megacra on the table here is $50, but wood humidors range into the thousands. A wood humidor makes for excellent presentation when entertaining at home or receiving guests at the office. Because wood is opaque, it protects cigars from ultraviolet light. For humidification and monitoring, we recommend Boveda and a smart sensor. Smart sensors let you check the RH and temperature of your humidor without needing to open it. [03:50] Part 2: Tupperdors If you're looking for something low-maintenance, we recommend airtight containers. The two we have on the table are the Sistema Klip-It 1870 and the Pro Glass containers. These have rubber gaskets that create an excellent seal when you clamp down the lid. The Klip-It is BPA and phthalate-free, so it's safe and nontoxic for your cigars. [04:50] Part 3: Acrylic Humidors For this storage quantity, the Boveda Small Acrylic Humidor is a good option. It has a quality airtight seal and a dedicated compartment for your humidification product. It's also quite attractive as a display piece. [05:18] Part 4: Travel Humidors The Cigar Caddy 3540, at $30, has a rubber seal and is opaque, protecting your cigars from ultraviolet light. Note that it's not a display humidor; you can't see the cigars, and the humidor's exterior is plastic. Travel humidors like this are better for long travel; taken in luggage or in a backpack, tupperdors allow cigars to shift around. Meanwhile, the Cigar Caddy's molded foam prevents movement and cushions shock. Most cases of this type are relatively small, so some guys retrofit Pelican cases to store medium-to-large quantities of cigars. Occasionally, travel humidors may come with a bad seal. You can test for this by putting a little water in, and seeing if it can get out. [06:51] Part 5: Humidor Bags Bags like Boveda's One Year Humidor Bag are great for storing cigars in a pinch. These barrier-laminated bags permit less air and moisture exchange compared to normal ziplocs. There are three sizes: small, medium, and large. The large fits as many as two cigar boxes! [07:37] Part 6: Which Boveda Pack Size Do I Use? Boveda packs come in 8g, 60g, & 320g sizes. An 8g pack humidifies 3-5 cigars, each 60g does 25, while the 320g is enough for 150.
