So in this video we show the damage of the previous aluminium 7075-T6 pump test and then test a higher tensile Super Suplex stainless steel shaft to compare breakage points. These rotors are only 28mm diameter so the point at which they make vacuum will be over 200,000rpm. This figure can be reduced by increasing the number of discs and finding the optimum spacing for air. Ultimately the ports will be cut using either water jet, CNC milling or perhaps EDM spark erosion. I expect to see a significant decrease in rpm required to make vacuum once the ports have been added. Other materials to compare are grade 5 titanium, stainless 420/440C, Inconel 718 and perhaps any other super alloys.
