We just found the BEST free snow sledding spot in New Mexico… and it only cost us $10. Capulin Snow Play completely blew us away. Perfect snow, fast hills, and nonstop runs with zero waiting. Every time you hit the bottom, you just laughed and ran right back up because it was THAT good. We brought a full mixed-age crew. My 16-year-old son and his friend, plus my 10-year-old daughter and her friends. Both groups loved it. Nobody got bored. Nobody wanted to leave. OTHERS had inner tubes, but we brought a plastic sled and disc sleds, and those were absolutely elite. Faster, smoother, and insanely fun. The kind of speed that makes your stomach drop in the best way. And the setup is perfect for families. There’s a central area with a fireplace, clean bathrooms, and families grilling and warming up between runs. You can stay for hours without freezing or packing up early. Best part? No entry fee. Just $10 parking. That’s it. Two full hours of pure fun for basically nothing. It’s only about an hour from Rio Rancho, easy drive, and 100% worth it. We will absolutely be back.
