Hello Flower Friends! I'm Ellen. Sign up for my FREE weekly newsletter, FlowerNerd (https://ellenfrostflowers.substack.com/) for more flower fun! I write flower profiles, chronicle my flower adventures and share flower stories. In this video I reveal seven pro florist's tape use cases. Tape is a versatile and essential tool. The uses of tape range from everyday bouquet binding to emergency at-the-venue fixes. I use two types of tape in my shop: floral or stem tape and waterproof tape. Floral tape feel like paper. It has resin which is activated when pulling on the tape. There are multiple colors and sizes available at wholesalers and craft stores. Waterproof tape has rubbery feel and will stick to most surfaces. Floral tape typically only sticks to itself while wrapping. 1. Wrapping bouquets. Floral tape is made for wrapping bouquets and always gets the job done. Just tightly wrap floral tape at the pinch point of the bouquet while pulling the tape to activate the resin. The bouquet will stay together. Cover the tape with ribbon for a professional look. 2. Strengthening stems. Use floral tape to give the neck of a flower extra strength to stand up. Use green tape to blend in. 3. Extend short stems. Tape stem wire onto short flowers so they can be used in a bouquet. 4. Secure mechanics. Waterproof tape can hold chicken wire or other mechancis inside of a vase. 5. Create a mechanic. Build a grid across a wide vase of waterproof tape to aide in your design. The grid provides a place for stems to rest or stand up straight in the middle of the vase. 6. Fix broken stems. In an emergency, use tape to repair a broken stem that can't be removed from an arrangement. 7. Hoop wreath traction. Tape creates a tacky surface to secure bunches on an otherwise slick metal hoop.
